FRANZ GRABMAYR was born in 1927 in Pfaffenberg near Obervellach in Carinthia. After leaving the building trade school in Villach, he went to the teacher training institute in Vienna and taught in St. Jakob in Rosental for several years. From 1954 to 1964, he studied with Robin Christian Andersen at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. The artist, who lives and works in Vienna and the Waldviertel, can look back on many exhibitions and displays in Austria and abroad, and has also received prizes and awards such as the Culture Prize of the State of Lower Austria, which he was awarded in 2008. In 1984, he was made an honorary professor in recognition of his independent artistic career. Franz Grabmayr died on May 5th, 2015 in Vienna.
