Sandro Chia, was born in Florence in 1946 and studied at the Istituto d'Arte and Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence. After completing his studies in 1969, he travelled to India, Turkey and across Europe before settling in Rome in 1970. In 1980, he was awarded a scholarship from the city of Mönchengladbach in Germany where he lived and worked for a year. His works have featured in international exhibitions including at the biennials in Paris, São Paulo and Venice. Sandro Chia lives and works in Miami, in Rome and at his vineyard of Castello Romitorio in Montalcino.
