Laura Stadtegger’s works centre around a close look at the human body, nature and the translation of movement into painting. In her different series she deals with a variety of themes from religion, Greek mythology, the environment and nature. Her depictions of the sea reflect her intense interest in the element of water. The emphasis is on a dynamic expression of the power of nature combined with movement. At times – e.g. in Lovis (2016) – we can see gentle waves splashing around a person, and at other times – e.g. in Indian Water (2016) – we are faced with a powerful surge of spray that becomes almost physically tangible. Her paintings satisfy the artist’s intention to experience nature with all her senses, even in its depicted form.
