The exploration of architecture and space is a fundamental theme in the work of Aitor Ortiz. He focuses on architectural perspectives and sections of buildings that negate their origin and documentary intent through close-up views and uncompromising reduction. In his series “Estorninos” (in English: “Starlings”) he focuses on living nature, showing a sequence of starling formations at the Gulf of Biscay. The images draw attention to the poetry and dynamics of the flock that can change pattern in an instance and whose symmetry, geometrical shapes and natural perfection fit in seamlessly with the artist’s larger oeuvre.
